This interview features Tyrone Shum, a serial entrepreneur from Sydney, who as you will hear considers himself a “generalist”.
I can tell you though, he’s good at one thing – copying me! I’ve had to laugh a few times when I’ve received emails from Tyrone (I’m on his newsletter), and when I read them I notice the words are very familiar. Tyrone has literally taken up my invitation to “copy what I do” so far as copy and pasting some of the emails I use during launches, just changing a few words to match his products and websites.
It has served him well, as he has managed to come online and within 12 months build up an income stream of over $10,000 a month selling information, following the blog + email list + membership site and affiliate marketing model I teach.
Tyrone took part in my Membership Site Mastermind program and studied everything I do from my blog to the emails I send to my list. In terms of being an action taker, he’s definitely one of the best people I know, and a stand-out performer from my program.
Today Tyrone’s niche is outsourcing, which he learned how to do with one of his previous businesses, turning it into an automated operation, requiring not much of his personal time to manage. He then went on to establish himself as an outsourcing expert, which is what his membership site Mass Outsource is about.
However before he became an online information publisher and teacher, Tyrone had two successful businesses in some interesting niches. He got started as an entrepreneur with vending machines and then later on, due to his interest in Dragon Boat racing, started a shop selling Dragon Boat products (this is the business he eventually outsourced and used the experience to start his current online business).
In the interview you will hear Tyrone explain how he has been able to succeed at three different businesses and how he so quickly became a six figure earner online (he did it in under 12 months!).

I love Tyrone Shum! I intend to follow in his footsteps especially since he’s following in your footsteps, Yaro. If you’re going to implement the “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” strategy, then Tyrone chose a good mentor to follow. I have the pleasure of already following Tyrone’s outsourcing advice with great results. Good one, Tyrone!
Hey Cheryl,
Thanks for your kind comments. If it wasn’t for Yaro’s Blueprint systems I wouldn’t have been able to do what I’ve done successfully.
Plus it’s also all the support of all my fans. So a big thank you 🙂
Awe!
And I adore all three of you!
Susan 🙂
Hey Yaro,
Awesome interview. Tyrone is really a great guy. His outsourcing advice is super-awesome.
Thanks for sharing this great interview.
~Dev
Great stuff Yaro and Tyrone!
I recently learned about Tyrone though my own blog, and he’s definitely an action-taker and inspiration. I’d be interested in talking to him about Vending Machines actually, because my buddy and I here in the states were interested in possibly investing some cash flow into that niche.
Cheers!
Hey Pat,
Thanks for your comment. I’d be happy to help you out with the vending machine niche. Just send me a message via Facebook.
What’s up Yaro,
This is the first time I’ve heard of Tyrone. What’s impressive is he’s a student of the Membership Site Mastermind program. Now he makes 6 figs which validates the value of your training. Good stuff!
What I particularly liked about this interview is that Tyrone admitted he ran accross a fair number of failures and told about them. It is very instructive that in order to become successful, you must get over failures. Perseverance is one of the big values.
I admire you Tyrone!
Thanks Dieter,
I always let people know that it’s part of our journey to fail and to learn from these mistakes which makes us successful. It’s from these failures that I learned to be grateful for what I have and also reminds me to help others as well.
Yes, it is true, in fact not many will show their failure sides after they reach that success lane.
I really enjoyed this interview. Tyrone has always been a very approachable person to ask questions. He just genuinely like helping people and I admire that. What a story!
Great Story, Tyrone has made it work well and has a great business model, make a six figure income, get bored and sell it, then move on, fair play 🙂
I had not heard of Tyrone (or Dragon Boats) but I will check out his blog, thanks.
Regards
Robert
Tyrone is a great choice for an interview. I have been following his blog for a little while and he gives a ton of great advice. I have to give him credit for convincing me to get on odesk to get some outsourced employees. I had tried minimal outsourcing in the past through other sites, but he showed me the better way to go about outsourcing. Thanks Tyrone!
I’ll repeat what everybody else has said…and add that I’ve been waiting for an interview with Tyrone. ‘Bout time!
Awesome interview, Tyrone and Yaro. Many people will be able to learn and benefit from your story. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve seen Tyrone in the comments section here a year ago. He seems to really admire and model himself after Yaro. Overall you came off like a gentleman.
Why did you ditch internet business path? Glad to see tyrone shum dot com up and running (was a bit of a mess before) looks fantastic now!
Hey David,
Thanks for your comment. In regards to IBP – it’s not ditched, I am in the process of turning this into another idea and all the posts from IBP will be loaded into tyroneshum dot com as being my authority blog. I decided it was time to create a brand around my name as I had already started doing it on FaceBook and Twitter.
Well done Tyrone! Glad the effort and experience all paid off.
It’s nice to hear as I’m fairly new to the Blog Mastermind Program and hoping I’ll be one of the success stories (even though my niche is a bit different).
Keep up the good work.
Tyrone Shum is really inspiring me to educate myself on how I can start outsourcing right away. I think it will be a worthwhile investment.
I liked this interview. It’s so true that you need to follow you’re passion. I don’t think AM could ever be my passion though. Is affiliate marketing and training people you’re passion Tyrone?
I have also learnt patience and perseverance is key to success. I no longer want to be the next big thing tomorrow. Slow and steady wins the race 🙂
Hi Simone,
Thanks! Affiliate marketing is just one of my income streams which continues to bring in good streams of cash. In relation to my passion:
My passion is to help people design their ultimate lifestyle using outsourcing and automation strategies I teach. That way people can live the 4 hour work week if they choose. 🙂
Wow! 4 hours a week work? That is even awesome than Yaro I guess. 2 hours a day is my ultimate goal for the blog.
Way to go, Tyrone! 🙂
One thing I admire about Tyrone is that he is super helpful to people. He sincerely wants other people to succeed as well.
More power to both of you!
Great stuff Tyrone. Thks for sharing these information with us. I have went to your site and read your stuff.
Tyrone really knows his “stuff” when it comes to outsourcing, I have watched a video with him and Kathy Dobson previously and learned so much.
It does not surprise me he has become such a success, Sally 🙂
I think dragon boats are the best. It was good to hear how someone started a business doing something they love. Online business is only going to grow in the future!
Stories like that motivate me so much that I just get up and start working.
Tyrone Shum is really inspiring me to educate myself on how I can start outsourcing right away. I think it will be a worthwhile investment!
What an amazing feat! This guy is great. I love the fact that he had no problem knowing he didn’t know how to do something and found a way to do it by copying you.
I’ve always learned that modeling off someone else’s system is the fastest way to achieve success. Rather than reinvent the wheel I just used Yaro’s system (which works brilliantly) and applied it to my passion.
Once you have a system that works, just fine tune it and continue to give great content to your subscribers.
Doesn’t it tick you off he is copying you? You almost seem amused. Is the relationship symbiotic? You actually promote the guy that is for all intents and purposes plagarizing you. I really have a lot to learn about making money online.
I’m really happy he can copy me and get a result – as a teacher it’s reassuring that your stuff can work for other people too. Tyrone also studied my course, where I tell people to copy as much as they like from what I am doing, so no, I am not upset about it at all.
Hi Yaro and Tyrone,
It’s good to see teacher and student, and the success the student has reached. You must be very proud Yaro.
Pete
Great video. Goes to show that anyone with a passion in any market can really make a ton of money. Great interview and nice work Tyrone, I definitley subscribed to your site and look forward to your videos.
Hey Jeff,
Thanks for subscribing to my site and I look forward to sharing with you more great content.
Hey Tyrone!
Thanks for the response. I’m definitely looking forward to learning. Nothing would make me happier than to make money from my passion “playing guitar”. I want to learn as much as I can!
Jeff
Wow very great impressive sharing all is really very true sharing all is share again by again.
I already knew about Tyrone’s story… it’s a great example of how anyone can make it online provided he/she is willing to make sacrifices and stick to a plan. Well done Tyrone…!
Thanks Jon.
I also attribute my success to having an excellent team around me. I wouldn’t have been able to do all this myself as well. So I have to thank my team as well.
Very great video Yaro. I visited Tyrone’s blog and I was shocked that your design looks like what on his blog or he just copied it from you. I think it is Student like Teacher or vise versa…
I also have a blogspot blog before and I also did so many tweaks to my template that may looks like your old design.
But anyway, I also subscribe to Tyroone’s mailing list.
Thanks for sharing this video. It’s serves as an inspiration to me.

Thanks Yaro for another great interview video.
Just a quick note, not sure whether you are aware the volume of the video was not even. The volume at your side was so much louder while Tyrone’s side was very soft. I’ve to constantly tuning the volume while watching the video.
May be it could be due to my speakers since I’m the only one having this problem.
Yes I noticed that as well. Next time I’ll make sure I have the Mic really close to me. If you want the transcript of the interview, I have it available here:
http://www.tyroneshum.com/yaro-interviews-tyrone/
Thanks Tyrone. The transcript is a great help, now I can really enjoy the interview.
It’s stories like this that make me think the business world of tomorrow won’t be anything at all like today. I think the concept of “going to work” is going away.
Hi Vera,
It’s fast becoming a trend and people are starting to see the this switch to owning a business rather than working in a 9 to 5 job. Though this will never happen completely as we still need people to work for us as well. (Mostly entrepreneurs who want a different way of life)
Great Interview Yaro & Tyrone.. thanks for sharing this valuable info..
QUICK QUESTION: Yaro.. when you say “…do a launch, and you’re done” – what exactly do you mean by that? I heard Jeff Walker talk about the “LAUNCH ECHO” – which is everything that happens after a launch, is this what you’re referring to?
This gets me really excited because I’ve already created a blog, give away great content people enjoy.. have an audience of loyal readers who visit regularly and comment, build my list to the hundreds and I’m NOW working on a launch..
thanks again..
Hector Cuevas
Hey Hector,
I think what Yaro means is that after you do launch you will have a new list of subscribers on your list which will in turn be your new followers and help you promote and build your brand. Yes just like what Jeff Walker talks about in the “launch echo”.
It’d be great to see your new launch and keep up the excitement as this is something that will continue to motivate you through the ups and downs of a launch.
I think they’re doing some sort of prize giveaway on The Jeremy Shum Invent Company, go check it out!!

What an achievement.Yaro and Tyrone are great people who proved that through hard work everything is possible.I wish I could be like you guys.I find list building so tough that I almost left it but after reading this I feel I should try it too.
Hi Yaro and Tyrone,
this video is really a great example of what is possible. Yaro, you seem to be a very skilled teacher. I know your blog here for about a month. Thanks for writing this kind of information. Tyrone, its quite impressive what you have reached in such a short time.
Hey Guys,
Really interesting and enthusing video article here with some great insights. One thing that I wanted to ask is when you talk about “making six figures” are you referring to revenue, gross profit or net profit? I.e. do you mean you sell $100,000+ or actually take home that amount after all running costs have been extracted?
Thanks
Dan
Wow very inspirational person. I would love to follow what Tyrone has done to his businesses. Become a successful one as well.
Way to go, Tyrone! 😀
Cool video but the audio sucks. I can barely hear Tyrone Shum.
I’m wondering how many other people have spent their first year like me, trying out stuff with varying success rates? Basically you make every mistake going until the veil of “naievety” is lifted from your eyes. You look to back just a couple of months and think to yourself, “what were you doing there man?”. This year my results appear to have been hit hard by the recession as my clicks have increased greatly but the conversion rate has dropped hugely. It would be nice to have a few more sales so that the business actually just broke even. Sometimes you feel it’s so close yet somethings missing. I’m sure jealous of guys like Ty and Yaro.
Tony
I found Tyrone Shum’s blog the other day through the Warrior Forum. It doesn’t take long poking around in that forum to find out who are the truly helpful folks that seem want others to also succeed. Tyrone seems to be one of them. I’ve been staying up late the past few days reading everything he’s posted on his blog. For some reason, I didn’t think to check his facebook. I’ve since corrected that…
This is inspiring! Another six figure earner that exactly follows your step. Gosh, I wish to land on your site much earlier than now.
Quite impressive what he was able to do. He was the first that really explained the advantages of outsourcing to me. Great material.
Hey Guys,
Please can you confirm what you mean when you say “making six figures” are you referring to revenue, gross profit or net profit? I.e. do you mean you sell $100,000+ or actually take home that amount after all running costs have been extracted?
Thanks
Dan

What I love about this is that Yaro Starak is totally cool with his student using his information, with a few changes here and there! Most entrepreneurs are so conceited that they will teach you and earn money for themselves then look for ways to sue you if you copy their stuff in order to make more money!!!
Its always great to come across success stories. Congratulations to Yaro & Tyrone. Hope good news will keep coming in. Cheers!
