I have a treat for you podcast listeners today – a discussion on blog traffic building with Darren Rowse, the Problogger. In this episode of my podcast, Darren and I talk about how he got so much traffic to his big income earning blogs like his Digital Photography Blog, why you really shouldn’t start your own digital photography blog and why you should start a Canon camera blog instead. Darren mentions some techniques he uses to keep bringing in traffic that the big corporate sites can’t do for legal reasons, we talk about following trends and how the first mover who covers a trend in the blogosphere can get the big traffic gains and what Darren is planning in the future.
There’s also some brief Yaro ramblings in there too, which I promise ties in with the overall theme of the podcast…eventually.
Enjoy!
Yaro

Great interview Yaro! I’m constantly wondering if its better to launch new sites on a new domain or to launch them on a sub domain. It was great to hear Daren’s take.
very insightful podcast, nice work. looking forward to hearing more from you!
Thanks fpr the interesting interview. My I just point out that 24kHz is not compatible and does not play on my version of winamp. Use 22 or 44.1 kHz and a better windshield. 32 kbps normally is o.k. but it sounded strange.
Hi Markus – thanks for the feedback on the sounds quality. I keep playing with it to get a good file size/quality ratio, but it can be tricky.
Strange though that it didn’t play on winamp for you. I use winamp too and it worked fine for me.
Yaro,
Great podcast! Thanks.
All that talk about Steve Pavlina has me hoping you’ll interview him next. Whaddaya say? 😉
Mike
Thanks Mike. Unfortunately Steve is a busy and focused guy so he hasn’t been willing to do a podcast interview so far. Maybe if a mainstream media outlet approached him he may see value in that interview because he could reach so many people.
Great Cast Yaro.
But one request:
Can you publish your webcast with a higher volume.
I like to listen to them in the train and even at highest volume of my mp3 player i can’t understand some of the casts.
Thanks in advance.
Tomse
I’ve started to register separate domains for my blogs. So far it seems to be working out quite well. Setting up a hosting reseller account is a great solution when you have 10 or more domains.
I’ve been catching up on all your Podcasts Yaro, and I was really looking forward to this one as Problogger was how I found your site. As soon as I started listening I realised I had heard it before. This podcast was how I found your site!
It’s been interesting listening to it the second time, as I know you a bit better now from reading your blog and listening to your other podcasts. It’s obviously the same information, but it seems different somehow.
Anyway I thought you may be interested in the trail I took to find your site:
1. A random message on a yahoo group directed me to stevepavlina.com
2. One of Steve’s posts linked to Problogger because Darren had written something about him.
3. Darren wrote a post mentioning this podcast.
4. After numerous mentions of Michael Pollock I decided to investigate his SavvySolo cast.
Interestingly I both investigated and subscribed to Steve’s, Darren’s, and your sites straight away. But Michael’s took several mentions before I looked at his site, and then a few more mentions before I finally decided to subscribe.
I guess Michael isn’t as sticky as the rest of you.
Hi Alan,
Thanks for your comments and the breakdown trail. It really is interesting how you can find websites on the Internet. It shows that in order to be found you really need to have links all over the place and preferably on other sites that are good at being found 🙂
Yaro
Awesome Podcast very informative and Great information now your Talking. I will have to listen in to your podcast again. Het and Keep up the great work
Yaro, thanks so much for this very detailed interview with Darren Rowse. You hit on some of the best topics . This certainly helps me to align some of my blogging goals with the pros!
Yaro, thanks for the interview, hope to hear more from Darren Rowse.
Yaro,
I really find myself enjoying some of your older content. I must say one of my favorite places to go right now is your archives. Maybe I can better relate to your work back when you were just starting learning. I find myself doing now a lot of what you did 3 years ago which I think is a good thing.
Another great thing about blogs you can go back in time and see what you did to get to where you are today. I hope to grow my blog and plan to do a lot of audio and podcast. Your blog inspires me everytime I visit thanks.
Jared
Wow!!! It’s really great to hear from such a great problogger like Darren.
Thanks yaro for making this possible.
Hopefully, I’ll join rank with you guys one day. 🙂 Well, anything is possible right?
I have a problem subscribing to your RSS Feed… It says feed is live, nevertheless I never get updates in my feed reader… Any Thoughts?
